Colorado State University's Men's Rugby Club was founded in 1970. Its tradition of competition and camaraderie keeps the team perennially ranked in the nation's top 20—both in rugby sevens and fifteens.
This club is built around a group of dedicated student athletes who commit themselves to the goal of winning their conference and progressing far through the national playoffs each year. Over the last few years, CSUs competition has been repeatedly outclassed and dominated. The determination and winning culture of this club is what gives it such an edge over the competition.
The CSU Men’s Rugby Club has produced two All-Americans this year, along with numerous other trialists over the last decade. Both All-Americans came to CSU with minimal rugby experience. The club therefore understands that prior rugby experience, although great, isn’t the be-all end-all. If you’re athletic and want to fully apply yourself to the game they play in heaven, then we want you. The team is seeking bright and talented young men motivated to work hard in the pursuit of academic and athletic excellence.
If you want to reach your full potential as a rugby player, and think you would fit in with a club of men like the one we just described, then we would love to talk with you about becoming a Ram. Please send us your information by clicking the 'Recruiting Form' button below.
If you already attend CSU and are looking to get involved with the program, simply attend one of our next practices. Our practice schedule can be found by clicking the 'Schedule' link on the 'Home' page.
The newly formed relationship between the CSU Men’s Rugby Club and the Canterbury Rugby Football Union of New Zealand means that numerous doors are about to be opened for the best young talent who are a part of the CSU Men's Rugby Club. The relationship means that the Canterbury Crusaders, one of the most acclaimed professional rugby teams in the world, will be sending personnel over to the United States to help run Elite Player Camps with the CSU Coaching Staff. These camps will allow talented rugby player applicants from all over the country to attend them—the revenue from which will be used to reinvest into the rugby players who attend, and play for CSU. Talented CSU players will get the chance to travel for an entire summer either their Sophomore or Junior year. They will venture to Christchurch, NZ, where they will train at the International High Performance Unit—the academy of THE Canterbury Crusaders. Not only will travelling to New Zealand for an entire summer be a hugely eye-opening and educational experience in itself, players will also get the chance to elevate their game higher and faster than possible anywhere else in the world. This will allow the players to come back to the US more well-rounded student athletes, while potentially opening more doors in the game of rugby overseas. Currently, to attend the IHPU in New Zealand, attendees can purchase a five week program costing $5,000. Alternatively, they can go there for three months, by attending CSU and being awarded one of our scholarships. Recruits interested in this should reach out by filling out our 'Recruiting Form'.
